This Privacy Policy explains how Ask Your Neighbor LLC (“Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects your personal information when you use our website and related services (the “Platform”). Terms used but not defined here have the meanings given in our Terms of Service.

1. Information We Collect

We may collect the following information when you use the Platform:

• Account Information: Name, email, phone number, date of birth, profile photo, and, for Seekers aged 16–17, parental consent information.
• Location Data: Approximate or precise location to match users, display nearby jobs, and support safety features.
• Messages: Chat history between users on the Platform.
• Payment Information: Payment method details, which are collected and stored by our third-party payment processor (Stripe). We do not store full card numbers.
• Device and Usage Information: IP address, device type, browser type, operating system, referring pages, and Platform usage statistics.
• Analytics Data: We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the Platform. This includes anonymized event data and aggregated usage metrics.
• Cookies and Similar Technologies: We use cookies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and support analytics. See Section 6 below for details.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Match Posters with Seekers for jobs
• Facilitate and track payments and refunds
• Provide customer support
• Improve, secure, and personalize the Platform
• Send transactional, safety, and account-related communications
• Enforce our Terms of Service and detect fraud, abuse, or unsafe activity
• Comply with legal obligations

3. Sharing of Information

We do not sell your personal data. We may share limited data with:

• Payment processors (e.g., Stripe) to handle transactions
• Communications and messaging providers (e.g., Pusher for real-time chat) to operate the Platform
• Analytics providers (e.g., Google Analytics) to understand Platform usage
• Hosting and infrastructure providers that store data on our behalf
• Law enforcement or government authorities, if required by law, subpoena, court order, or to prevent fraud, harm, or violation of our Terms

4. Data Security

We use industry-standard security practices, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), password hashing, and access controls, to protect your data. However, no system is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of your information.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. After you delete your account, we may retain limited data — including transaction records, chat logs relevant to disputes, and safety-related reports — for up to three (3) years to comply with legal, tax, safety, and dispute-resolution obligations. After that period, data is deleted or anonymized.

6. Cookies and Analytics

We use cookies for essential functions such as keeping you signed in and remembering your preferences. We also use Google Analytics 4 to collect anonymized information about how visitors interact with the Platform, which helps us improve the service.

You may control cookies through your browser settings. You may opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. Disabling cookies may affect Platform functionality.

7. Children’s Privacy

The Platform is not intended for children under the age of sixteen (16). Seekers must be at least 16 years old; Seekers aged 16 or 17 may only use the Platform with verified parental or legal-guardian consent. Posters must be at least 18 years old.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age required by our Terms of Service. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information without appropriate consent, please contact us so we can remove it.

8. Your Rights and Choices

You may:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Update or correct inaccurate account information
• Delete your account at any time from your account settings, or by contacting us
• Opt out of location tracking through your device settings (note: this may affect Platform functionality)
• Opt out of Google Analytics tracking (see Section 6)
• Request a copy of your personal data in a portable format by contacting us

To exercise any of these rights, email support@askyourneighbor.online. We will respond within a reasonable time, generally within thirty (30) days.

9. Data Breach Notification

In the event of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify affected users by email within a reasonable time frame, consistent with applicable Texas and federal law.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. For material changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify users by email or in-Platform notice at least seven (7) days before the changes take effect. The “Last Updated” date at the top of this policy reflects the most recent revision.
